Many Ways to be an Ecologist – Moray School of Art Degree Show (2018)
In ‘Ecology without Nature’, Timothy Morton asserts that ‘the idea of nature is getting in the way of properly ecological forms of culture, philosophy, politics and art’.
Morton’s text fuelled my creative desire to represent nature differently in art. I feel nature is broadly misrepresented in art, just as it is broadly misunderstood in culture.
Working in an expanded way with architectural forms and devices, I found a visual and material language to question our relationships to built and natural environments.
